Book of the week:  Senses at the Seashore by Shelley Rotner

Why we love this book:

The photography in Senses at the Seashore is colorful and features children using their five senses to explore the beach.  The five senses and the simple text make it an excellent book for parents and preschool teachers to read when introducing the beach to their children.  Primary school teachers and homeschool families will enjoy using this book as a jumping off point for many learning activities. Join us tomorrow,  we’ll share a new beach song adaptation and a FREE early reader printable!

Nothing can beat the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.

My favorite thing to SEE at the beach is the dolphins jumping out of the water. My favorite thing to HEAR are the whistling pines as the sea breeze blows in. I love the SMELL of the ocean air as I TOUCH the soft silkiness of the sand and TASTE the ham sandwich from the picnic lunch. Ao the beach what a wonderful place to be. I can not wait to get there.

When we go to the beach we stay right on the ship channel in Port A. I love to see and hear the large cargo ships coming into port. It is also neat to see them pull all the water away from the shore when they are full of cargo.

My favorite thing to hear is the sound of the waves rolling in from the ocean. My favorite thing to see is the sun rising over the water.

My favorite thing to taste at the beach is grilled shrimp. My favorite thing to see is someone else cooking it.
