Okay, some families might not consider a trip to the library an exciting outing. But for me and mine, we LOVE the library. I wonder how our small town library has so many books. If every family checked out as many books as we do, there wouldn’t be any books in the library. So again I ask,”Why are there so many books on the shelves of the library?” I challenge you to wipe out your local library this summer.

When I was a child, my mother took me to the library each week for story hour. After story hour, I got to check-out two books! I still remember my two favorites: Thumbelina and The Country Bunny and the Little Golden Shoes. I had my very own library card and I treasured it! Now I’m passing on the love for the library to my children.

What’s not to love? Our little library is overflowing with books, DVD’s, CD’s, magazines, and they even have educational computer games in the children’s area. Again, what’s not to love about a trip to the library? Why isn’t there a line waiting to get in the doors?

Look at our library stash! I’m still wondering, “How are there any books left in the library?” But even after we hit the library, there are tons of books still on the shelves.

The library has books for those who like to draw!

The library has books for those who like to build!

There are books for all of our theme studies, such as our study on architecture and construction.

There are more than enough nonfiction books for our architecture & construction study!

The library has oodles of books for Daddy to read aloud each night. We never run out of new ones!

We always bring home a bunch of books that are perfect for early literacy development. Miss Enigma loves these silly read alouds and MacGyver takes a turn reading them during his independent reading time.

The library has books for Mommies who are dreaming of a BIG home remodel (oops, a not so big remodel).

The library even has books for Daddies.

It is always a struggle getting the children to leave the library. But when we get home the real fun begins! WE READ!

And we read, and we read and we read!!!

Oh yes, I saved the most important for last! The library has books for those who LOVE dinosaurs. We never make it home without books about dinosaurs.

We love trips to the library. I look forward to it as much as my 6 year old daughter does. She loves to go to story time, play on the computers, and check out books galore. I swear if I didn’t put a limit on the time we spent there we’d be there all day every day not to mention if I didn’t put a limit on the number of books she could choose at once (4-5) she’d try to check them all out. Also I must help her choose books that aren’t too easy or hard for her. She may be going into 1st grade but she reads on a 3rd grade level so we try to get a good variety of books that are both easy and challenging for her to keep her interested in reading. She even begs my grandma to take her to the library all the time… and grandma usually gives in.

We love the library… the best thing I got my 7yo. daughter this year was letting her get her “OWN” library card… you would have thought I had given her a million bucks… *LOL*

It depends on which family member you ask. I love reading & the library. My husband wants nothing to do with it. So far I think our daughter will take after me!

I love it!!! And even though Sam is only 5 months old I can tell he loves it already. (probably because all of the little old ladies tell him how cute he is!) He already loves being read to and I can’t wait for him to start looking forward to his library visits!

A trip to the library is always fun! I could spend all day looking at the wonderful books for the children and for me! I love to browse through the latest magazines to get new ideas and looking on the “new books” shelve is like christmas oh what fun it is to go to the library!

In our new house we are building an area just for books and reading, so I hope our children will love it!

With or without the 18 month old? I guess it is exciting both ways in different ways. I love the library and could spend days there.

I have never taken Madelyn to the library. I think this summer is a good time for her first visit. I have good memories of my library visits and want her to have the same.

Okay, I’ll admit, with some 18 mos. olds it’s not so much fun. Later it will be loads of fun! :) I’m speaking from experience!

I LOVE the library! I also have made sure that my kids rooms both have lots of bookshelves and I buy books on sale from the library and garage sales so that they have their own collections.
