Book of the Week GIVEAWAY: Gossie & Gertie and Gossie by Oliver Dunrea

Why we love these books:

We have an ongoing love affair with best friends Gossie and Gertie. Their friendship is so simple and yet so enduring. Through Gossie and Gertie’s sweet friendship, young children learn important lessons about sharing and the give-and-take of friendship. Friendship is not about always getting what you want, but rather about flexibility and generosity. Share a little Gossie & Gertie with your children during this season of friendship and love.

Here’s the whole truth and nothing but the truth . . . We two sister at waddlee-ah-chaa are physically and emotionally exhausted. Stay tuned for more on this . . . In the mean time, we’ve put together some links to Gossie & Gertie, friendship and Valentine ideas, including a popular FREE printable book we posted last February. We’ll add more Valentine links throughout the week.

I like the book Owen and Mazie, real friendship between a large tortoise and a orphaned baby hippo.

I know I should list a book but when I was younger I just loved the friendship shared by the boys on the movie Stand By Me. I guess I can list the book The Body by Stephen King since the movie was based on it.

I don’t want to enter into the giveaway but wanted to tell you that the books look very cute. We really enjoyed Frog and Toad are Friends – such a lovely collection of stories for early readers.

I love The Secret Life of Bees movie and books. Great message and relationships formed in that beautiful story.

The Country Mouse and the City Mouse. Basically, two people (or in this case, mice) can be very different and still be friends.
BTW, my son LOVES both Gossie and Gertie and relates to being the leader and the follower.

I really like the book My Friend Rabbit. Of course, Gossie and Gertie are just as adorable.

Oh my, it is really difficult to pick just one favorite book or movie about friendship. There are so many wonderful children’s books with this theme!

But the first one to jump to mind is Amos and Boris by William Steig — a whale and a mouse who form an unusual but enduring friendship despite all the differences in their life-ways.

I have heard such wonderful things about the Gossie & Gertie books. If I don’t win this time, I’ll definitely be going to check to see if I can find them in our local library. We have a lot of toddlers and youngsters who would enjoy these adorable ducklings.

Sorry to hear that you both are so exhausted! I hope you get a chance to rest and recuperate!

Frog and Toad is one of my favorites. I had the book on tape when I was a kid and I can remember listening to it over and over.
