These breakfast parfaits are healthy, easy and quick. So easy an eight and five year-old can prepare them all by themselves. Yes, you can layer these parfaits in fancy dessert glasses; however, we skip the fancy dessert glasses and use easy to handle bowls. This is a no fuss healthy breakfast that the kiddos make every week. Look for the FREE printable recipe guide at the end of this post.
*I only use plain yogurt. I do not like the extra sugar in flavored yogurts. We make our own fruity yogurts.
- ¾ cup plain yogurt
- ½ cup sliced fruit
- 1 tsp. blue agave
- 1/8 tsp. of cinnamon
- measuring cup
- measuring spoons
- cutting board
Step 1: In a bowl combine yogurt, cinnamon and agave.
*We use blue agave, honey or a dash of powdered stevia to sweeten our yogurt. You can adjust the sweetener to taste.
Step 2: Carefully cut fruit into bite size pieces.
* Fresh fruit is a staple on my weekly grocery list; however, you could also use frozen berries. We always add bananas as they bring sweetness to the yogurt.
Step 3: Top yogurt mixture with sliced fruit.
Step 4: Enjoy!
Note to the grown-ups in the room:
My kiddos are not big meat eaters, especially little Miss Enigma. (That’s one of the reasons she’s so darn little!) We add 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder to our yogurt and mix it in with the cinnamon and agave. It blends right in and adds a little protein to the kiddos’ breakfast.
