Since my return from Cambodia late this summer, I have wanted to share my trip with you. However, I have found it hard to process and put into words all I saw, experienced and felt. This week I will share one tiny piece with you. A piece of the puzzle that is growing in my heart. A piece of the puzzle that I think God will use down the road.

My volunteer trip to Cambodia included two main missions. First, my team visited the children our church sponsors. These are the children I met and fell in love with three years ago during my first trip to Cambodia. I have so many good things to tell you about these children whom I adore but that will have to wait until next time . . .

Cambodia AIM Teachers

The second part of our trip was spent training the fabulous teachers at the Agape International Missions Community School. I also have so much to share about the good work these teachers are doing but this too will have to wait . . .

Today I want to introduce you to the women of the AGAPE Training Center (ATC). While in Cambodia, I had the privilege of visiting the ATC located just around the corner from the AGAPE school. Please take a few minutes to learn about these young women and their 3 Strands Bracelets.

“The Agape Training Center (ATC) is a small jewelry and apparel training center unlike any other in the world. Instead of the typical 12 hour shift in horrible working conditions, the girls attend the ATC for 8 hours each day. During that time they receive counseling and educational services as well as lunch and medical benefits. Their salaries are 3 – 4 times higher than what the typical garment factories located in Cambodia pay. This is a community, built upon respect and compassion for one another and the feeling of a family environment is what surrounds these girls at the center each day.”

Thanks for sharing this information. I am always looking for sources of beautiful handmade gifts that also promote a better, more equitable world. I will bookmark this site.
Another great gift idea is the children’s book “On My Way To School”, about the long walk to school for kids in northern Tanzania, which you can purchase at
Proceeds from sales of “On My Way to School” help support AfricAid’s work at Losinoni Primary School in Tanzania (East Africa).
