Operation Christmas Child Birthday Celebration Packing Party!

Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week is November 17 – 24, 2013

Last week, Miss Enigma celebrated her 6th birthday. While she sports a quite feisty, funny and strong-willed personality, she is an extremely giving and compassionate child. I wanted to honor her compassionate spirit by celebrating her birthday with an Operation Christmas Child packing party.

Operation Christmas Child

Rather than focusing on the gifts she would receive for her birthday, we turned our focus to children in need around the world.

Painted Toys, ages 11, 9, 8 and 6

Personalized Gifts

  • Each child painted a snake or lizard wooden toy.
  • The children were very excited about the Christmas Boxes and making personalized gifts.
  • The conversation around the table was a joy . . .
    • Look at mine, I’m painting mine special for a girl. I know she’ll love it!
    • I think my boy will like my lizard because I’m using a lot of different colors.
    • I wish I could be there to see them open their boxes!
    • Are these going to our children in Cambodia?
    • Yours is beautiful!

The boys painted with the idea that they were making a gift for a boy.

The girls eagerly painted beautiful toys for girls. They went all out!

I have to tell you, it makes my heart smile to imagine children around the world playing with these gifts made with love.

Personal Letters

  • Each child also included a personal letter.
  • The gun will NOT be included in the boxes. That is left over from a cowboy Halloween costume.
  • Operation Christmas Child specifically request NO guns and NO war toys.

Pack Boxes with Gifts for a Boy or Girl

  • Once again, the children were thrilled to select items to pack into their boxes!
  • Miss Enigma and I selected toys and personal items from the $1.00 aisle at Target and the Dollar Store.
  • We didn’t pick any items we thought would easily break.

What to Include in Your Boxes

  • toys
  • school supplies
  • hygiene items
  • candy
  • personal items like ball caps & hair clips

In our materialistic centered world, this Birthday Party was a breath of fresh air! I knew Miss Enigma would enjoy packing boxes but I was happily surprised to witness the joy all of the children expressed during our Operation Christmas Child Packing Party!
