We are GIVING AWAY one Rivers, Roads & Rails Game

Now that Halloween is over and the children are coming down from their sugar-high, it is unbelievably time to start shopping for Christmas gifts. This week we are starting our annual Christmas Toy Recommendations and GIVEAWAYS. Our goal is to share FUN educational toys that the children in your life can play and grow with. This year our focus will be on family friendly games that the entire family can enjoy. We hope every family can add a fun Family Game Night to their lives.

Why we love this Christmas Gift for children:

Rivers, Roads & Rails has been a family favorite for over 30 years. I first purchased this game from Discovery in 1981 for my then 4-year-old son. He received it as a Christmas gift and a family game tradition was born. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve played this game with the children in my family.

I’m sure many of you know children who are CRAZY about trains. Rivers, Roads and Rails is an “outside-of-the-box” Christmas gift for the little train lovers on your shopping list this year. On the other hand, this game is also loved by children and girls who haven’t been bitten by the train bug. My two daughters were just as crazy about this game as my son.

The instructions recommend: ages 5 – adult and 1-8 players. So it’s easily a fun game for the entire family. It’s pieces also serve as a large floor puzzle if children want to play independently.

This summer during a visit to Aunt Joyce’s house, Miss Enigma enjoyed a game of Rivers, Roads & Rails. She was eager to add on new game pieces.

Nowadays, with the constant change of the most recent video game becoming obsolete even before you’ve purchased it, I have a huge smile on my face. This smile is here because Rivers, Roads & Rails has somehow managed to stay relevant, engaging, fun and timeless for our family over three generations.

I have bought 2 shake-n-go cars so far for Christmas. They were marked way down at Kroger! I have managed to hold on to one of them…the other was given as a birthday gift already to someone not in our family. It came in really handy to already have it on hand! :)

I haven’t bought one thing. I really need to start thinking about it considering I am having a baby in about a month. Too many things to do. I would love to add this game to our collection. I think both the boys would love it just as I did when I was young.

I haven’t started shopping at all! But I plan to give a lot of books, and I’m constantly making lists of books I want to check out for myself, family, as possible gifts, etc. So the first step is to collect those lists … Oh dear!

We haven’t started our gift shopping yet, but it’s usually very simple. This game is actually on my son’s wish list… so maybe we can win it! :)

I’ve started in my head, does that count? This game looks awesome. I actually saw it at our local transportation museum recently.

Holy Cow! This is a For Sure for us this year! Boe would LOVE this game – it has train tracks on it! If I don’t win it, I’ll buy it!

And, yes, I placed my first order for gifts this morning.

Oh, that’s on my Amazon Wish List! Looks great! Please enter us in the drawing.

I have started the holiday shopping as I have picked up sale items throughout the year. I still have some serious shopping to do!

I have not started my Christmas shopping yet. I always wait until the last minute. It’s a really bad habit to be into but it works for me. I always say every year that I’m gonna start as soon as the holidays are over but I have yet to do so. Everybody always really loves what I get for them though so I must be doing something right.

My husband bought a bow for my sons and I have started researching how to make a ballet barre for my daughter. So far, that’s all we’ve done for Christmas. But I’ve had my eye on this game since I first heard of it here on your blog.

I have started my Shopping, when I find something that is a fitting gift for someone I pick it up. Sometimes I can find specials and discounts by starting early.

I bought my kids calendars and I bought a gift for my sister (my family draws names and shops for one sibling’s family), so we’ve started shopping. We keep Christmas pretty simple in our house, and I may make any other gifts, depending how the month goes. My goal is to be done with all gift-shopping by the end of the month!

This game sounds neat; I’ve heard about it from at least one other blog (or maybe you’ve featured it before?)

Bhav November 5, 2011 at 9:14 pm

Hmmm…not really! I have made tons of lists tho! Who to buy what for and when etc. I hope I can stick to at least to half of the plan!:)

Anissa November 6, 2011 at 5:52 pm

I have bought a few small things and that might end up being all we do this year. I think Christmas should be more about family, remembering Jesus and making memories. Games usually are a great way to bring families together and make memories. We love them!

Alice November 6, 2011 at 10:10 pm

Yes, I started this weekend actually.
